REPORT
On 08/11/2022 at around 14H27 info was received on the Vaal Response Unit (VRU) group from the Belrex Innovative Monitoring Control room of a Blue Audi A4 with reg CD…..GP. That was
Involved in a house robbery in Fochville. After entering Vanderbijlpark SW 5 the vehicle was monitored and it was reported that it was still in the area.
Members of the VRU group were activated in search of the vehicle. a Member of One Guard Tactical spotted the location of the Blue Audi A4 in progress with another house robbery as it was later determined. The member asked for backup and kept an eye on the suspects waiting for backup to arrive.
While waiting for backup suspects left the scene. The suspects then spotted the member and immediately started to chase off. The member pushed the suspects when they were about to leave the area back into the area where backup members intervened in the chase of the suspects.
The suspects then left SW 5 via Beethoven str where they wanted to go towards Ravel rd but members managed to keep them in the area and took Frikkie Meyer Blvd and Hendrik van Eck blvd where the vehicle was lost due to traffic. Information was relayed that the vehicle took se3 /se4 side or Hendrik van Eck Blvd and Ascot.
Vaal Members proceed via Ascot on Vaal where it was relayed back to the members still in the area that they did not take the exit. Members from Asec then picked up the blue Audi on Andries Potgieter Blvd close to VUT where the chase continued towards Sharpville where the vehicle made a U-turn between the Vanderbijlpark Cemetery and Sharpville back towards Playfair blvd.
The vehicle then took Playfair blvd to Powerville where Sedibeng VCIU TRACING TASK TEAM and Sedibeng K-9 members intercepted and gave chase towards Vereeniging. Vereeniging members activated and joined in the chase of the blue Audi where it went towards New Vaal Mercedes Benz Garage then took De Villiers ave towards Voortrekker st Vereeniging Cbd. The vehicle then jumped Voortrekker st towards Union st where they lost control of the vehicle on the cnr of De Villiers ave and Union st and made an accident. The suspects jumped but the members were close on their tail and managed to apprehend 2 suspects. The area was closed off and members chasing the suspects on foot managed to recover one of the firearms used in the commission of their crimes that they dumped during the chase on foot. Unfortunately, the other two suspects managed to escape.
Members also made use of drones and patrol dogs to scan the area but still, no luck on the suspects’ whereabouts could be established.
Scene cordoned off
While busy with the search it came through from Sasolburg Saps that the suspects also hit a house robbery in Vaalpark
All necessary members were contacted and the scene was handled accordingly.
Investigations from Saps will carry on and the necessary linkages will continue.
